Jessica Nowlan Lapband Mexico Story

Dear Laurie,

 I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you did to help make my lapband experience so easy and so smooth.
Thank you for understanding how difficult it was for me  to talk to  friends and family about the fact that I was planning
to have it done, and in Mexico no less!! You willingly shared your story with me about your own struggle with obesity and
how it was impacting your life and health,your search for a doctor who was both compassionate and skilled in the area of
bariatric surgery, and how you came across Dr. Huacuz, and how your life is now not only turned around,
but full and rich and fun again !!

 

Now, I don't know much about all the other Drs. who are available to do lapbanding, but I do know,
from my recent experience, that none of them could possibly come close to matching Dr. Huacuz and his staff for kindness,
skill, compassion,integrity----each one of us was treated with respect and dignity and our concerns were heard and responded to.

 

The whole experience was a breeze. I can't believe how easy it was--- meeting you and the rest of the group at the airport, being bussed to the Clinic by Victor--it was immaculately clean and so tastefully furnished--- and then the Huacuz Team got down to business immediately,actually getting all the blood work and EKG and IV and counselling and paperwork and signatures
out of the way within a very short time---then we were all ready for our surgery!!

 

As you know, because you were right there all the time like a ministering angel, I was so totally relaxed after receiving
the pre-op sedation that I have almost no memory of the surgery or the recovery room. You tucked me in and hooked up my sleep apnea mask and hovered around checking on all of us---and I was OBLIVIOUS !! WHAT a way to have surgery !!.

When I awoke I was amazed that I had actually had the surgery AND the only discomfort I felt was some bloating and
a feeling of fullness---NO PAIN !!!

 

I can't tell you how reassuring and comforting it was for me to have you there Laurie ---- hovering like a mother hen,
but not overdoing it, so I was able to relax and sleep and begin healing. If not for you and your Service I would not have
been able to do it, I don't know what the solution could have been---probably none.

 

When you plan your next Group Trip let me know--- I will probably be ready for a fill, and I intend to trust my health and
my wellbeing to no-one else but you and Dr.Huacuz's Clinic, knowing I couldn't be in better hands!!

Lillyana's Lap-Band Mexico Story

Today is one month since I have had my surgery and I want to let you know that I am doing great.

After being overweight my entire adult life, I was determined to solve this problem once and for all with Lap Band surgery.
Lap Band seems like a reasonable solution, and I was excited to make this big change in my life.

I had heard such wonderful things about Dr.Huacuz. After I had spoken to Dr Romero and several of their patients,
my decision was to have the Lap Bend surgery at the Huacuz Surgical Center When I got to the airport in San Diego
I was picked up by Victor and taken to my pre testing and met with Dr. Huacuz and Dr Romero. During the initial pre-surgical consultation, he spent over an hour with me, discussing the Lap Band procedure, outlining risks and benefits, and making sure I understood that I would be ultimately responsible for the success of this procedure.

I had surgery Friday evening, Feb. 10, 2006 I weighed 220 at the time of surgery.
My recovery was unremarkable, with very little pain and no nausea or vomiting.
I went back to work 3 days later, and have lost about 4 lbs. per week, for a total of 20 lbs in the firs month.
My first band adjustment will be around April 15 2006 and I'm looking forward to a little more restriction and help with my portion control. The program is very structured and so is the aftercare. The only way to be unsuccessful is if
you absolutely ignore the instructions that are given to you by doctor Dr. Romero.

There isn't anything that I didn't like about Dr. Huacuz or Dr Romero.
They are very understanding and they try to make me feel as comfortable as possible.
They were always there for his patients and easy to reach. Aftercare is extremely important,
and Dr. Romero has always been there for me.

I have never experienced an easier time of weight loss in my life,
although it's been slow I feel like this time it is going to be permanent.

I would like to take this time to express my gratitude and thanks for every thing you have done for me.
I sincerely appreciate the dedication and expertise as a surgeon that you have shown to me and also to my family.
Your compassion and understanding in explaining and answering all my question, the time you gave to me
without rushing through an office visit, and also the many times you came to help me after surgery was so impressive,
I can't thank you enough.

Dr. Haucuz, in my opinion, you are to be honored and praised for all your efforts and skills
as a Doctor and a friend. I remember when I first came to your office, I was so impressed by your humility,
skills, knowledge and interest in my health and wellfare. I must say that I have been successful in weight loss,
and portions are no longer a problem, but most important my health has changed dramatically. I have had no
asthma problems and have required no medication for almost 10 months now. My blood pressure is normal
and my blood sugar levels are great. I look forward to the day when I will not have to take medications for
ANY health related problems.

That day is not far off now. I hope to reach my weight loss goal my April or May, 2006.

Dianna's Lap-band Mexico Story

My first impression with my surgeon was honestly beyond my wildest dreams.
To say he was professional and friendly would both be understatements. His compasssion and empathy
for us WLS patients is only second to his clinical expertise. He spent all the time I needed to make
sure that I felt re-assured about my decision and the risks and post operative potential complications.
The preliminary testing that was done put my mind at ease.

From the moment I first met Victor, the great english-speaking driver who picked us up from the
airport to the first time I met Norma ( the amazing - fluent English speaking receptionist),
The amazing staff that Dr. Huacuz has surrounded himself with are truly there for the patients.
Norma arranged that my Mom who came with me on my trip had her hot latte delivered to her 3 times per day.

We were told from the beginning to make ourselves feel at home and that´s exactly what we did
and what they wanted us to do. The surgical center is brand new as Dr. Huacuz just moved to a new building.
Each room is tastefully decorated with warm rich tones which reinforces the feeling that we are in a
warm caring enviroment. I was on self-pay and whether or not I liked it, cost was a concern for me.
At the beginning I was considering the lap-band mostly due to cost. However, in the end the
cost I paid was only a bit more than what I would have paid for the lap band and a lot less than what I
would have paid to have the lap band or vertical sleeve gastrectomy done in Canada!

I know a good testimonial should always have the good and bad remarks but honestly
I just don´t have anything to say that is not positive. Anyone looking into the procedure of going to Mexico,
